Cabelas Fly Rods

Cabelas fly rods are extremely popular. A lot of that has to do with the name but they also make a nice product. Cabelas fly rods are pleasing to the eye with nice finishes and good hardware. Their higher end rods have a nice warranty. If you're looking for a nice travel rod, the Stowaway 7 rods are sweet little rods. Cahill: This Cabelas fly rod is a 3-piece 96% graphite blank. High grade cork handle. Graphite reel seats and snake guides. Comes in weights 5-8. The 8 weight has a fighting butt. Priced $29.

Three Forks: Rods are 96% graphite blanks with moderate action. Wood reel seats, heavy duty hardware. Line weights 3,5,6,7,8, and 10. Available in 2 or 4 piece. Priced $49-$54.

Stowaway 5: Rods are 96% graphite blanks, available in several different actions. Line weights 3,4,5,6, and 8. Chrome double-foot snake guides, up-locking reel seat with maple wood insert and aluminum hardware. All of these fly rods come packaged in a Cordura®-nylon- covered rod tube. Rods are 5-piece. Priced $80-$95.

Clear Creek: Moderate-fast action IM6 graphite, 2-piece, matte black blanks. Lightweight graphite reel seats. Spigot ferrule joints. Weights 1-5. Comes with a Cordura nylon covered rod case. Priced $99.

Prestige: Rods are 38-million modulus IM6 graphite, moderate to fast action. They are equipped with a Tiger Maple reel seat (8-wt. model has an aluminum reel seat with a 1" fighting butt), single-foot snake guides and premium cork grips. Line weights 4-8. Available in 2 and 4 piece. Priced $99-$109.

Traditional: This Cabelas fly rod is made of 33 million modulus graphite. Moderate-fast action. Weights 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 10. Models come in 2 or 4 pieces. 4-7 weights come with walnut reel seats. 8 and 10 have an aluminum reel seat. Silver plated hardware, stainless steel bouble-foot snake guides, aluminum oxide stripper guides. Priced $65-$90. Break one, they'll repair or replace it. 5 year unconditional warranty.

Stowaway 7: Moderate fast action 40-million-modulus graphite. All of these Cabelas fly rods have cocobolo wood reel seats and nickel silver hardware, except the 7, 8- and 10-wts., which sport anodized aluminum reel seats and fighting butts. Rod tube covered with Cordura® nylon included with each rod. Line weights 4,5,6,7,8, and 10. All rods are 7 pieces. Priced $150-$160.

LST series (line speed taper): Medium-to-high-modulus graphite, fast action. These Cabelas fly rods come in weights 2-10. Available in 2 or 4 pieces. Equipped with lightweight woven graphite reel seats (aluminum reel seats on 7 wt. and up), single-foot titanium carbide finish guides, high-grade cork handles and an SIC stripper guide. All hardware has a titanium-colored finish. Priced $180-$215. Rods have 25-year unconditional warranty.

XST Series: This is a Cabelas fly rod that was designed specifically for saltwater. These rods are super-fast action. Generation III 44 million modulus graphite. High-grade cork handle, black aluminum reel seat, chrome double-foot snake guides and an SIC stripper guide. All models are 9' and come in line weights 7-12. Only available in a 4 piece. Priced $180. 25-year warranty.

PT Series: Moderate action, Genration II 38 million modulus IM6 graphite. Include Rosewood reel seats (9 and 10 weight rods come with an aluminum reel seat) with gold aluminum hardware, stainless steel double foot snake guides, and a aluminum oxide stripper guide to accent the chestnut brown blank. All models come complete with rod sock and rod tube. Line weights 2-10. Available in 2, 3, and 4 piece. Priced $155-$220. These Cabelas fly rods have 25-year unconditional warranty.

FT Series: Fast action, generation III 44 million modulus, matte black finish. Weights 2-12. Models come in 2,3,4, and 5 pieces. The 7-wt. models are REC uplocking with nickel silver hardware and a hand-buffed select-grade cocobolo insert. The 8- to 12-wt. models have black anodized aluminum uplocking reel seats with mortised barrels and dual locking nuts with embedded O-rings to keep the reel in place. 8-12 weight models have EVA/cork fighting butt.
